Te Uma Mataaho Midwifery Scholarship
Dates open:
Applications open from 22 November 2023 to 15 December 2023
Applicants must:
Have whakapapa Māori
Be a current enrolled student in a Bachelor of Midwifery or Bachelor of Health
Science – Midwifery in any year (ie; Year 1, 2, 3 or 4)
Intend on remaining or returning to Ngati Kahungunu to join the midwifery workforce
Submit the application and supporting documentation on time
Key selection criteria:
Proven academic achievement.
Be available to attend an interview.

All shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with a selection panel.
The panel will consist of: A member from the Tūruki scholarship panel, Te Kaihaukura Māori Midwife Lead and a local Māori Midwife. Able to identify an inequity barrier for hapū whānau and pregnant people and discuss potential solutions using a Te Ao Māori lens approach
Include in your documents a study plan outlining strategies that ensures successful completion of the undergraduate degree.
Your whānau are welcome to support the interview process.
Scholarship recipients will be expected to be Ngā Māia o Aotearoa members as well as active Ngā Maia members of the region they reside in. All recipients will also be required to submit a written update report during mid second semester.
